Printing & Imaging Technologies

The students will be producing our very own newsletter/newspaper. Franklin is the best school district in the state (& world) and we want to get the word out to our community members, parents and EVERYONE all the fun, exciting and educational things that we have going on!
This production will include items of interest in the district, district-wide happenings, exciting news about upcoming events and information about all three campuses and personal interest stories about the people that make our district run effectively and efficiently. It will be produced as a hard copy and will also be uploaded to our website for all the read!

In Printing & Imaging Technologies, students learn by doing. Students will learn the basics of the major printing processes from design through digital imaging to final printed product. Those entering the Printing program should be creative, have good problem-solving skills, and enjoy working with other people.

Students will learn about digital graphic imaging, prepress operations, media and publishing, offset printing. Students will turn their ideas into finished products. Focus is on processes that manufacture printed
materials. They will prepare files for output to various devices depending on the process and requirements including design, color correction, preflighting, and packaging files for output. Jobs will be imaged on digital imaging devices and will also be exported in Adobe PDF files for viewing online.
Programs used and learned in this course are: Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word. (There will also some instruction in Adobe Photoshop for imaging purposes.)

Prerequisite: DAA and/or teacher approval.
